Varese is easily accessible by any means of transport.
The international airport of Milano Malpensa is nearby.
Malpensa Terminal 1 is served by all major international air carriers, whereas Malpensa Terminal 2 is a major Easy Jet hub.
Milan Linate airport is the Milan city airport, and it is located at a significantly greater distance than Malpensa airport.
Varese is connected to Milan by Trenord trains stopping at station “Varese” or station “Varese Nord”. These two stations are adjacent.

Reaching Varese from Malpensa International Airport

Option #1 (train “Malpensa Express from Malpensa Airport)
Once in Malpensa Airport, take the train “Malpensa Express” (direction Milano Centrale), get off at Saronno station and take the train direction Varese Nord or Laveno Mombello (both directions are correct) and get off at Varese Nord station.
Duration of the journey Malpensa-Saronno: 17’ or 21’, depending on the train chosen.
Duration of the journey Saronno-Varese Nord: 31’ or 40’, depending on the train chosen.

Reaching Varese from Milan Linate Airport

Option #1 (Bus + Suburban Railway S5):
Just outside the airport, take the bus X73 (direction San Babila M1). Bus ticket can be purchased directly on board.
Get off at DATEO stop. Enter subway train station DATEO, and take the suburban rail line S5 (direction Varese). Get off at the terminal station Varese. Duration of the journey Dateo-Varese: 82’

Option # 2 (bus + train from Cadorna Ferrovie Nord)
Just outside the airport, take the bus nr. 73 or X73 (direction San Babila M1). Bus ticket can be purchased directly on board. Get off at the terminal stop San Babila M1, take the underground Line 1 - red line - (direction Bisceglie or Rho Fiera), and get off at Cadorna stop (four stops after San Babila). Once in Cadorna, leave the metro station and enter into the railway station Cadorna F.N. (Ferrovie Nord), take the train direction Varese Nord or Laveno Mombello (both directions are correct), and get off at Varese Nord station. Duration of the journey Cadorna FN – Varese Nord: 50’ (train “Regio Express”) or 63’ (Train “Regionale”).

Option # 3 (bus + train from Milano Garibaldi Station)
Just outside the airport, take the bus direction Milano Centrale (main railway station).
Get off at the terminal stop “Milano Centrale”, take the underground Line 2 - green line - (direction Abbiategrasso/Assago Forum), and get off at Garibaldi FS stop (two stops after Centrale).
Once in Garibaldi FS station, you have 2 options:
a) from SURFACE station PORTA GARIBALDI, take the train “RegioExpress” (destination Varese station).
Duration of the journey Porta Garibaldi (SURFACE station) – Varese: 52’.
b) from SUBWAY TRAIN (Passante ferroviario) station PORTA GARIBALDI, take the suburban rail line S5 (direction Varese). Get off at the terminal station Varese.
Duration of the journey Porta Garibaldi (SUBWAY station)-Varese: 75’
